Outstanding Generosity for Cancer Charity
A donation of £1,000.00 has been received by a local cancer charity and dedicated in memory of Evesham residents, Betty and John Brown and their son Dr Ralph Brown.
The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust received the amount following the charity’s appeal to raise funds towards purchasing equipment for a new Assessment Unit at Worcester Royal Hospital.
Mr John Brown and his wife Betty lived in Hampton and had experienced the loss of their son, Ralph, to acute myeloid leukaemia in 1980. It was at a Tree Planting Ceremony held in the 1990’s that Sue Sollis first met Betty and John Brown together with members of their family. At the Ceremony Yew trees were planted in memory of Ralph.
The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust Founder Member, Sue Sollis said, “I am overwhelmed with the generosity received. It is a huge step towards the opening of the new Assessment Unit which will provide a fast track system for cancer patients. It is very much hoped to open the new unit sometime during the month of April.”
Betty and John were regular and active members of Evesham Methodist Church who contributed greatly towards assisting the local community. Together they helped in the running of the popular Friday Shoppers Service, which after 22 years still takes place at 10.30am every Friday Morning.
