Charity premiere - April 2004.

A former Musician of the Year premiered his own composition in Evesham in aid of the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust.

Concert pianist Marcel Zidani, an honorary member of the trust, who lives in Honeybourne, played a composition he had written himself, at All Saints Church.

The 30-year-old, a former Musician of the Year in Oxfordshire, also played extracts from Koln Concert, a jazz piece written by Keith Jarrett, and Venezia and Napoli, a classical composition by Franz Liszt, as well as his own more modern, easy listening pieces.

Mr Zidani has already raised money for the charity using his musical talents and hoped that all 300 seats in the church will be filled.

Karndean hat-trick.

Evesham-based Karndean International won Floorcovering Supplier of the Year for a third year running by the Independent Floorcovering Distributors Association (IFDA).

The directors were presented with a trophy and a cheque for £250 to be donated to a charity of their choice. Karndean generously doubled that amount and gave £500 to the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust, a charity that helps in the prevention and relief of distress of those with the disease.

Managing director Martin Bell said: `It's a hat-trick for Karndean, a testament to the quality of our products and a clear indication of our status as market leader in the design flooring industry.

`It is wonderful to be able to help support local charities, and the Tracy Sollis Trust is a worthy cause indeed.'
